Add to that the fact that these memories are discovered at your pace and depending on where you go and how thoroughly you search. Various memories in the form of photos, official papers and cutscenes are intentionally vague, showing you just enough to *think* you know what's going on, only to throw doubt on your story as seemingly contradictory information is revealed. The story is intriguing in that it keeps you second-guessing yourself, especially regarding previously established 'facts'. There is the occasional jump scare, but the game earns them, opting mostly for a creepy atmosphere which is backed up by the odd reminder that you can in fact die.Īlso I don't think I've been this traumatised by a giant teddy bear since FNAF. It really does just creep up on you, probably somewhere between discovering you're not alone and realising that you still have no weapons. Having seen the trailer I figured it'd eventually get a bit more hectic, but it's hard to say at what point the "cool Tron aesthetic" atmosphere gave way to creeping dread. What's really disarming about Master Reboot is how innocently it starts off. Spent about 2 hours of trying to get the damn thing to run properly.ġ00% in about 7 hours after that. And the developer's not active in the discussions. But sadly, the amount of people having technical difficulties with this game is really high.

If you're able to run the game and get sound, you're likely to enjoy yourself a lot. (Possibly by the same artist, as they're probably much better at this point.)Īll in all, this is a gem of a game that's covered in bugs and glitches. It would be nice to see the cutscene artwork redone.

The cutscenes, whilst functional in their storytelling, aren't the best for the simple fact that the artist drawing it obviously hadn't developed their skills up to a near professional level at the time. Visuals are really nice! Love the aesthetics in this game! And the audio is also pretty good. The game itself, when it works, is pretty good and unique! It's a first person puzzle adventure with a decent story and some horror and philosophy elements.Ĭertain gameplay elements aren't all that great, but most work fine. Why would we buy the new games when the developer won't bother fixing their already existing games? Are we supposed to just accept that their games are filled with bugs and glitches that will never be fixed? Should we buy games that don't work?

And instead of fixing these bugs, the developer is just making new games. The thing is, even that graphics bug was something I experienced way back when I originally played this on the WiiU. The game might not start at all! There are different suggestions for fixing this in the guides and discussions, however. This is really annoying! Especially during segments where you need to be extra observant. Way too often, graphics from a previous area will remain on the screen, like a somewhat transparent image. Which really sucks when there are several puzzles that base themselves on sound! (Changing to Windowed mode in the Graphics options and then completely restarting the game fixed it for me. You might not have sound when playing the game.
